Alan Huizenga, PE, MS

Alan is a Senior Utility Advisor who works part-time with the Environmental Finance Center – East team, primarily working on drinking water technical assistance projects. Before joining, he owned a Vermont consulting firm focused on small water system improvements. With over 40 years of consulting engineering experience, he built a strong record of delivering practical, affordable solutions and clear funding strategies through the Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund and USDA Rural Development programs. His work frequently included Preliminary Engineering Reports, final designs, and construction-phase representation.

He sees working in water as an opportunity to incorporate community service into his daily work life. You can find him cruising the hills, curves, and occasional straight-aways on his 1973 BMW on a sunny spring morning in Vermont.
